Description

Allis-Chalmers built two of these cars, originally for transporting heat exchangers for then new Nuclear Power plants in 1958. The cars remained in service hauling many oddly shaped loads AC would produce in their West Allis, WI plant until the mid 1980’s. An exact scrap date is unknown but it believed to be some time in the late 1980’s or early 90’s.

Or model is straight from official AC and Thrall erecting diagrams (fortunately saved from the dumpster by a vigilant employee before the plant was vacated). Faithful attention has been paid to every aspect of this model. Thanks much to our many fans for supplying saved images from all eras of the cars existence. We’re offering the car in both Road Numbers (400 or 401) with “As Delivered” decals with the original AC Diamond logo, or the later “Repaint” which includes the later AC Triangle logo and ACI plates. We hope you enjoy this unique car.

*HO scale. Kit is supplied with car body and step decks, genuine wooded end decks, Accurail trucks and SMMS metal 33″ wheel sets, Kadee #5 Couplers and Magic Boxes, brake wheel and brass stock for brake wheel shaft, screws and Circus City Decals, and pewter weights.  Assembled car weight without load is 3.5 oz.

We suggest using CN Orange for the color from your favorite paint manufacturer. As the cars no longer exist, we have found CN Orange to be very close to the estimated original AC Orange.

Please select 1958-1966 “As Delivered” or 1967-1988 “Repaint,” and desired Road Number when ordering.

Francis Turbine Intake Housing load not included, and must be purchased separately. (More Loads will be released this year).
